Security operatives arrest 14 MASSOB members in Ebonyi
From Vanguard News – By Chidi Nkwopara
No fewer than 14 loyalists of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, including the organization’s National Director of Information, Comrade Uchenna Madu, have been arrested by a combined team of police and soldiers in Ebonyi State.
According to a press statement signed by the Deputy National Director of Information, Mazi Chris Mocha, and made available to Vanguard in Owerri, the loyalists were arrested September 3, 2010, at Igboagu, Izzi local council area of Ebonyi State.
“Information reaching us revealed that they will be facing treason trial for as little offence as holding peaceful meeting and sometimes, wearing jerseys or faze cap with Biafran insignia,” Mocha lamented.
He expressed fears that his colleagues, currently being subjected to physical torture, were most unlikely to get fair and early trial, given the weakness in the legal system.
Demanding their immediate release and dropping of the charges against them, Mocha also used the opportunity to renew the organization’s earlier call on President Goodluck Jonathan to order the release of the state-of-the-art Jeeps and motorbike belonging to the MASSOB leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike.
“These personal properties of Chief Uwazuruike have been in the custody of the State Security Service (SSS), Owerri, Imo State, since August 27 and 30, 2005,” Mocha said.
biafra currency is now spreading all over eastern staes and been used by all massobians..
